Introduction

SafeLine is a powerful, self-hosted Web Application Firewall (WAF) designed to shield your web applications from various attacks and exploits.

A WAF acts as a protective barrier between your web applications and the Internet, filtering and monitoring HTTP traffic. It guards against a wide range of attacks, including SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), code injection, OS command injection, CRLF injection, LDAP injection, XPath injection, remote code execution (RCE), XXE, server-side request forgery (SSRF), path traversal, backdoor intrusions, brute force attempts, HTTP floods, and bot abuse, among others.

How It Works

Image description

By positioning a WAF in front of your web application, you create a defensive shield between your app and potential threats on the Internet. While a proxy server hides the identity of a client by acting as an intermediary, a WAF functions as a reverse proxy, safeguarding your server by requiring all client requests to pass through the WAF before they reach your server.

The WAF filters, monitors, and blocks any malicious HTTP/S traffic directed at your web application, ensuring that no unauthorized data is transmitted out of your app. It achieves this by following predefined policies that distinguish between malicious and safe traffic. Much like a proxy server, a WAF operates as an intermediary, but with the added function of protecting your web application server from potentially harmful clients.

SafeLine's core features include:

  • Comprehensive Web Attack Defense: Protects against a wide array of web-based attacks.
  • Proactive Bot Defense: Prevents bot abuse with advanced detection and mitigation strategies.
  • HTML & JavaScript Encryption: Encrypts your HTML and JS code to enhance security.
  • IP-Based Rate Limiting: Controls traffic flow by setting limits based on IP address.
  • Web Access Control List (ACL): Implements access control policies to secure your web applications.
