Key Free Services and Their Limits

1 Compute:💻

a. Amazon EC2:
750 hours/month of Linux/Windows t2.micro instances.

b. AWS Lambda:
1 million free requests per month, with up to 400,000 GB-seconds of compute time.

2 Storage:💾

a. Amazon S3: 🪣
5 GB of standard storage, with 20,000 GET and 2,000 PUT requests per month.

b. Amazon EBS:
30 GB of storage in SSD or magnetic volumes, with 2 million I/O operations.

3 Database:

a. Amazon RDS:
750 hours of Single-AZ db.t2.micro instance for MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MariaDB, including 20 GB of database storage.
Networking & Content Delivery:

4 Amazon CloudFront:
50 GB data transfer out, 2 million HTTP/HTTPS requests per month.

Monitoring Usage:
AWS provides a Billing and Cost Management Dashboard to track your usage and forecast costs. Setting up usage alarms can help prevent unexpected charges, though they aren’t foolproof.

Limitations:🙅‍♀️
The Free Tier is subject to limits that, when exceeded, can lead to charges. Be mindful of services that do not provide free tiers, like Amazon Route 53, or those that can incur high data transfer fees between AWS services.

Common Pitfalls:🤦‍♀️
Exceeding the free tier limits is easy, especially if you forget to shut down unused instances. AWS services like EC2 and S3 are often the culprits behind surprise bills.
