Theme one, lack of awareness, was underpinned by men's knowledge deficits about their eligibility for, and the availability of HPV vaccines. Theme two, underestimating and embodying risk, included men's engagement in sexual activities while misinformed or denying the risk for contracting HPV. The third theme, strategies for increasing men's awareness, summarizes messaging strategies used to lobby young men to vaccinate. The review findings indicate gender-sensitive interventions targeting college-age men, including early, frequent, and consistent messaging on HPV are key.
Depression is a common health concern in primary care with barriers to treatment well documented in the literature. Innovative online psychoeducational approaches to address barriers to care have been well received and can be cost effective. This pilot trial evaluated the effectiveness of an online psychoeducation curriculum intended to alleviate symptoms of depression while utilizing minimal staff resources.
A small (n = 29) randomized control pilot study was conducted. Online psychoeducational content was delivered in 5 to 10-minute videos over 8 weeks. Participants engaged in moderated discussions on workshop topics. The Patient Health Care Questionnaire (PHQ-9) was used to measure pre/post scores. Two Likert scale questions were used to determine subjective changes in understanding of depression and coping skills.

In this review, the authors summarize several important aspects of the development of anti-HIV CAR T cells, with a special focus on the evolution of CAR design for enhanced potency and targeting specificity, and also outline the challenges that still need to be addressed to take anti-HIV CAR T cells from a hopeful approach to a real HIV cure.We recently made an important discovery that radiation induces myofibroblasts, which play a role in radiation-related carcinogenesis via tumor microenvironment formation. Here, we investigated the threshold dose and the mechanisms of myofibroblast induction to assess adverse radiation effects on normal cells. Single-dose of healthy human fibroblasts in vitro promotes myofibroblast induction at high doses (≥ 5 Gy). In contrast, repeated low dose of fractionated radiation is at least equivalent to high-dose single radiation regarding myofibroblast induction. ROS play a pivotal role in the process of myofibroblast induction in normal tissue injury. Antioxidants, such as epicatechin and ascorbic acid can prevent myofibroblast induction by scavenging ROS. We further investigated the role of DNA damage responses (DDR) on myofibroblast induction. Blocking the DDR using DNA-PK or AKT inhibitors enhanced cellular sensitivity to radiation and facilitated myofibroblast induction, whereas an ATM inhibitor also enhanced radiation sensitivity but abrogated ROS accumulation and myofibroblast induction. In contrast to standard culture conditions, myofibroblasts remained after low or moderate doses of radiation (below 2.5 Gy) under growth-restricted conditions. In conclusion, the recovery of damaged cells from radiation is essential for myofibroblast clearance, which restores stromal cell dormancy and prevents tumor microenvironment formation. However, residual ROS, by way of sustaining myofibroblast presence, can facilitate tumor microenvironment formation. Targeting ROS using antioxidants is effective in the mitigation of radiation-related adverse effects, such as growth retardation and myofibroblast induction, and helps protect normal tissues.Older adults commonly experience difficulties efficiently searching the Internet, which can adversely affect daily functioning. This study specifically examined the neuropsychological aspects of online transit planning in 50 younger (M = 22 years) and 40 older (M = 64 years) community-dwelling adults. All participants completed a neuropsychological battery, questionnaires, and measures of Internet use and skills. Participants used a live transit planning website to complete three inter-related tasks (e.g., map a route from an airport to a specific hotel at a particular time). On a fourth Internet transit task, participants were randomized into either a support condition in which they received brief goal management training or into a control condition. Results showed that older adults were both slower and less accurate than their younger counterparts in completing the first three Internet transit tasks. Within the older adults, Internet transit accuracy showed a medium association with verbal memory, executive functions, and auditory attention, but not visuomotor speed, which was the only domain associated with Internet transit task speed in both groups. The planning supports did not impact actual Internet transit task performance in either group. PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and Scopus were searched through 2 January 2020. Studies reporting the impact of IrAE on outcome in patients treated with antiprogrammed death receptor 1 or PD-L1 were included. Twenty nine articles were included. IrAEs were associated with improved outcomes with high heterogeneity. With a landmark approach, the association between IrAE and outcome remains significant but the effect size was smaller (hazard ratio 0.61 vs 0.41 for overall survival; p = 0.015; hazard ratio 0.66 vs 0.47 for progression-free survival, p = 0.029; odds ratio 2.59 vs 6.77 for overall response rate; p less then 0.001), no significant heterogeneity.
