My 1st year marketing at a devtools startup - 10 learnings.

Ivanha Paz - Oct 11 - - Dev Community

I’ve been Jamming for a full year today 🤯.

So, here’s 10 things I learned at Jam - let’s go! 🍓

1️⃣ A startup is the people - not the product or the brand. It’s the team.

2️⃣ When things are about people, they’re more fun.

3️⃣ If it feels easy, it’s because you don’t know how to do it yet.

4️⃣ You can learn anything.

5️⃣ Friends are better than “external partners”.

6️⃣ Engineers are great marketers.

7️⃣ Being specific and concise is a useful skill in all things.

8️⃣ Devtools are a whole vibe. It’s such a good vibe.

9️⃣ Job titles don’t really matter - if you’re in the right place, you can do anything. Even HTML & CSS.

🔟 It’s awesome to love what you do - unapologetically, un-sarcastically. You can really just love software.

It’s been an amazing year! I’m a different marketer because of it.

Year 2 starts now - JavaScript, I’m coming for you.
