What is Validator Trust (V-Trust)?
In decentralized AI networks like Bittensor, validators play a key role in maintaining network integrity. They evaluate the performance of miners and generate a score, or "weight," which informs the network’s trust in each miner. The trustworthiness of these validators is then quantified as V-Trust.
Why Does V-Trust Matter?
V-Trust acts as a gauge of a validator’s reliability. Validators who align closely with the network's consensus are rewarded with higher V-Trust, which in turn impacts their rewards and role within the network. It’s a unique way of ensuring the network stays fair and robust.
Key Points of V-Trust:
- Weight Setting: Validators grade miners based on performance and align their scores with the consensus.
- Impact on Rewards: Higher V-Trust leads to better incentives and influences the network's reward distribution.
- Consensus Integrity: Validators deviating from consensus risk penalties, preserving fairness across the network.
- Supporting Small Validators: Initiatives like weight copying help smaller validators stay aligned without heavy penalties.
