Facing Uncertainty: A Developer’s Journey Through Career Challenges and Procrastination

Rakesh Pradhan - Sep 11 - - Dev Community

For the past 2.5 years, I have been working remotely for a small company as a web developer. And I had big ambitions to make side projects and elevate my career. But somewhere along the way, I got lost in the rabbit hole of distractions, spending too much time scrolling my phone and playing games. Instead of building the portfolio I envisioned, I found myself procrastinating more than ever.

Recently, I found out my company is struggling, and I’ll need to find a new job soon. The problem is, I haven’t built the portfolio I need to showcase my skills. Now, I’m facing the reality of not being fully prepared and feeling the pressure of finding a job quickly.

Procrastination has been a huge hurdle for me. It’s not just about being lazy—it’s the fear of starting, failing, or not being good enough. I’ve let distractions take over, and now I’m paying the price. But with this wake-up call, I’m starting to act, prioritizing unfinished projects and focusing on what matters.

I am not sure if anyone has been in this position, so I’m reaching out for suggestions. If you’ve faced procrastination or had to switch jobs quickly, I’d love to hear your advice.

I’m learning the hard way that procrastination can have real consequences, but I’m determined to turn things around. If you have any tips or experiences to share, I’d love to hear them!
