This February, we will do the "Month of Learning" challenge at Virtual Coffee, where we'll work on learning new dev-related things. You might deep-dive into one topic or do a little bit of everything.
The goal of this challenge is for you to learn something new, share what you've learned, and gather recommendations and resources to be shared with others.
If you're inspired by what you learn and want to share more, you can transfer your learning into content creation, such as blog posts, videos, live streams, or even conference talks!
How to Keep Yourself Accountable
Keeping yourself accountable is crucial for the continuity of your learning journey. Here are some tips to keep yourself accountable:
- Create a schedule: Create a plan that outlines what you need to do each day, week, or month. This will help you stay organized and on track.
- Track your progress: Keeping track of your progress and celebrating your achievements will help you stay motivated and focused on your goals. You can use this learning journal template to track your progress.
- Be consistent: Make learning a habit and set aside time daily or weekly to work on your goals. Consistency is key when it comes to achieving success in learning.
- Accountability buddies: You can ask your friends or community to learn synchronously or asynchronously with you. Learning with others can keep you motivated. At Virtual Coffee, we have Accountabilibuddies sessions to support our members in holding themselves accountable for learning.
How to Participate in the Challenge
Let's start by drafting your plan and setting your goals for the month:
- Define the topic you'll be learning about.
- Gather the resources that you will use.
- Set weekly goals and/or goals for the month. What do you want to achieve at the end of the month?
After each week of learning, you can share what you've learned and the resources you used in the comments section. Alternatively, you can share your learning journal with us to share your progress and encourage others! If you come across anyone learning the same topics or are interested in what others are learning, reach out to them and learn together!
