Recently, Microsoft Word for Mac has started stripping away formatting when you paste text using Command (⌘) + V, leaving you with plain text. To restore the original formatting, follow these simple steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Word on your Mac.
  2. Access Preferences:
    • Click on Word in the top menu bar next to the Apple logo.
    • Select Preferences from the drop-down menu.
  3. Modify Edit Settings:
    • In the Word Preferences window, click on Edit.
    • If you don't see an Edit option, choose Advanced instead.
  4. Adjust Cut and Paste Options:
    • Find the section labeled "Cut and paste options" or "Cut, copy, and paste".
    • Uncheck the box next to "Show Paste Options button when content is pasted".
  5. Close the Preferences Window:
    • Your changes will be saved automatically.

After completing these steps, pasting text with Command + V will retain the original formatting.
