What is Instacart? And how does it work?

Wilma R. Davis - Aug 19 - - Dev Community

Instacart allows customers to shop at local grocery stores using a mobile app or their website. A personal shopper later fulfills the order by filling the virtual shopping cart on a designated day.

Normally, Instacart offers same-day delivery. This option allows customers to receive their groceries within a five-hour window when they need them quickly rather than later.

Shoppers can head to the store of their choice on the same day. They can then deliver the order using their own car. Alternatively, they can plan an order in advance for delivery on a different day.

Instacart does not sell groceries itself. Your shopper will notify you in the app if an out-of-stock or unavailable item is purchased. They will work with you to find a suitable replacement.

Instacart partners with membership-only stores that offer bulk items. These stores include Costco, BJ's Wholesale, and Sam's Club. Instacart allows you to shop at these stores without having to buy a membership outright.
