I was bored of making stupid websites for just simply nobody. So, I decided to learn game dev and make a game all by myself. The game is aimed to launch in the halloween week if it's possible. This post is about my journey in making that possible.
Well, well, well I am going to make a game before Rockstar games does.
With an amazing idea in my overcomplicated brain, I swiftly opened up my computer and taught about what game engine I should use. I used Godot before, but I didn't understand godot fully and I don't know how to write all the networking and monetization code. So, I decided use Roblox studio because it solves all these problems for me. It's easy to learn, monetization is done for us, networking is done for us and the 3d engine is super easy. So, it's a cake walk. Many of you might argue that we get very little money off our games and only kids play our games. You know what, IDC 😑.
SO, after learning lua for some days. I found out Roblox studio to be extremely ez. However, earning money of this thing is difficult. So, if you are an extremely ambitious developer. I personally recommend you to skip Roblox studio. But for me it was pretty good and I fell in love with it like I did with javascript. 😘
I don't like any virtually thing, just don't care about my words 😬
MONETIZATION WITH ROBLOX
The monetization system Roblox is kinda weird. You get robux when premium ROBLOX players play your game (there are 16.5 million premium Roblox players) and the only other way to earn money is by game passes. And you get only about 70% of robux from the price of the game pass. Why? Go ask Roblox! So, it's only good if you wanna get started.
Coming to the development experience. The editor itself is really user friendly, and Lua is easier than JavaScript. So, I have a good time developing. However, It was not as good as visual studio code. After a few days of awesome development, I finally came up with an idea. So, I am announcing my game officially. It is named NIGHTMARE and hence the name it is a horror game. Here are few sneak peeks. Let me know if you want more details about the game
