Fast in Not Enough Anymore

There was a time when things could take seconds.

That time ended with the birth of the internet.

We all adapted to that and considering the level of our technology, reasonably so (just to make one single name: Vercel).

But I noticed one significant change.

Probably in the last 5 years or so.

Due to social media, I guess.

Fast is not enough anymore.

People are upset to not see the same rapidity they experience on a browser in everyday life.

  • Why does prototyping take so long?
  • Why does creating custom software take that much time?
  • Why is creating software still that slow?

This is why we created Polipo (https://www.polipo.io/): to streamline UIs creation from Figma directly into code, as part of a React library. All without generating code for developers tired of the next 1000x AI gadget.

In the last Olympics final of men's 100m race, all the contestants ran below 10 seconds.

It took 9.80 to win the first Italian Gold Medal in this competition, in 2020.

But in 2024, 9.85 meant arriving only 5th.

In 2004 that was the time made by the gold medalist.

We are running fast on planet earth.
