Since I just finished my series on encryption I thought this news was interesting.

Apple just announced its new encryption protocol for iMessage called PQ3. This new protocol was created in order to future proof itself against quantum computing and its impending ability to break our current encryption methods. PQ3 is similar to the Signal protocol and is apparently even more secure. As with Signal it appears to be based on Diffie-Hellman and RSA.

Here is Apple's overview, and here is a security analysis of how it works, but a lot of that is even beyond me.
