Four common approaches are batch processing, multitasking, multiprogramming, and real-time systems. In this article we will explore each of these approaches, their strengths and weaknesses.

Batch Processing

Advantages:

  1. Efficiency: Batch processing is very efficient for repetitive tasks that do not require immediate user interaction. This allows the computer to process large amounts of data without constant user intervention.

  2. Error Handling: batch jobs can be scheduled and monitored for errors, making it easier to identify and correct problems.

Disadvantages:

  1. Lack of Interactivity: Batch processing is not suitable for tasks that require real-time user interaction or immediate results.

  2. Administration Time: Users have to wait for batch processing which can be annoying for time sensitive tasks.

Busy

Advantages:

  1. Improve User Experience: Multitasking allows users to run multiple programs simultaneously, improving productivity and user experience.

  2. Resource sharing: Resources like CPU and memory are shared between processes using efficient hardware.

  3. Task Switching: Users can seamlessly switch between running programs, making it easy to work on multiple tasks at once.

Disadvantages:

  1. Resource Contention: Sharing resources can cause contention, where processes compete for limited resources and can slow down the system.

  2. complexity Managing several tasks at once can be complex and mismanagement can lead to crashes or instability.

Multiple applications

Advantages:

  1. Efficiency: Multiprogramming increases CPU usage by keeping the CPU busy while other processes wait for I/O operations to complete.

  2. Idle time: Reduce idle time by allowing the CPU to work on other tasks while the process is waiting for I / O.

  3. Better Response Time: Users experience faster response times because the CPU can quickly switch to other tasks.

Disadvantages:
