Requests for posts tag

rhymes - Jan 1 '19 - - Dev Community

We all have our favorite topics in software development, usually because of a combination of expertise and interests.

While reading the following post by @mikeralphson

a draft idea started forming in my mind. I then asked him if he was willing to write a post about the future of Web APIs:

I'll leave you with a request for a post if you want to write it: your opinions about the future of Web APIs. Where REST future lies, how is GraphQL evolving, alternatives to protobuffers like capnproto and whatever you want to talk about :D

In this one you talked about the past, I would love to read one about present and future :)

Dev.to is full of experts on various topics in software development and sometimes I see developers asking "What should I write about?".

Coming up with ideas is not always easy, we all know it.

Hence, my proposal:

why don't we create a tag that people can use to request posts from the community?

Does it make sense?

It can be as simple as "hi folks, I would like to know more about HTTP/2's server push" or it could be "I would like to write a post about this or that topic but presently I don't have time, so here you are"

There's no obligation to anyone obviously, it could also be just a way to know what people want to learn about.

I admit the idea is not fully formed, but it's the first day of the year, I'm just going to put it out there 😜

What do you think?
