Apple is poised to release its highly anticipated desktop operating system, macOS 15 Sequoia, ahead of schedule this year.

According to a recent report by MacRumors, the tech giant plans to unveil it alongside iOS 18 in mid-September. Both iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia were initially showcased during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

Traditionally, Apple launches new iterations of iOS in September, while the latest macOS typically follows suit a bit later. For instance, macOS Sonoma debuted on September 26, a week after iOS 17. Its predecessor, macOS Ventura, launched on October 24, more than a month after iOS 16.

The synchronized launch, as claimed by MacRumors, is designed to ensure seamless functionality of cross-platform features, such as iPhone Mirroring, from the outset.

Meanwhile, Apple Intelligence features, including tools that facilitate writing, AI-driven image creation and editing, and an enhanced Siri, are reportedly not part of the initial iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia rollout. These AI features are expected to arrive with macOS 15.1 and iOS 18.1, slated for an October release.

We can expect an official announcement from Apple in the first half of September, when the company typically hosts its iPhone launch event. The most likely date this year is September 10, although Apple has historically launched new iPhones both earlier and later than that.
